Contest of Champions

Image
Contest of Champions is a free Marvel game you can find on mobile. Imagine playing a fighting game with the biggest roaster you can find. Pretty much you start off with a few characters and work your way through the quest. You get so much energy to move and have to wait until it recharges to move more. Of course, leveling up gives you back a full bar so make sure to keep an eye on that to maximize your energy use so you don't waste any. (I have used an energy refill and ended up leveling up a few spaces later) You attack in a basic side-by-side fighting game. Taping for a light attack, swiping for a dash or medium attack, and holding down for a heavy attack on the right side of the screen. While on the left you can swipe to dodge back or hold to block. You collect gold, and experience as you move through the levels. You also can collect chests that contain ISO which are used to upgrade your character. When you upgrade your character to its max level you can then rank it up ...

Marooners

I am a big fan of couch games, I have two kids and a husband so having anything 4-player we can all play together in the same room is great. First, you pick your character, a little girl, pirate, scuba diver? Then what color do you want to be? Don't forget to pick the best weapon. Like the T-rex bone, caveman's club, shaman staff, and much more. There are a few modes to play from, but it took a while to understand some of them. There is a party, arena, or any in offline mode. (I honestly didn't play the online mode since we played 4 players) Now what it does is hop between each mini-game, it will start off by telling you what to do for that level, but then it will quickly start. If you are in chaos mode it will randomly change in the middle of the game without finishing to another game. You can also choose to finish each game before switching to a new one. You could end up running from a giant bolder trying to smash you one moment to, trying not to get squished b...

Horizon Chase Turbo

Image
Horizon Chase Turbo is a game you can sit down and play with your friends for hours. It goes up to 4 players split screen, (I know couch games are so hard to find anymore) which you can progress with each other through the campaign. Each point each race for the place you are in, if you collected all the coins on the track, and how much gas you have left. Yes, I did say how much gas you have left. Going through the course you can collect coins, collect more nos boost, and collect gas cans. Make sure you keep track of your gas usage, and how many boosts you have left. The controls aren't bad but I do have to say the colors are very vibrant and after a while, you may need to take a break from them. Going from bright daytime to dark nighttime in some of the races is the worst. The levels are very fast going. As you progress you can unlock more cars, and even upgrade your cars. Make sure you choose your upgrades to help how you play. (I didn't see any gas ones till the third ...

Heavy Rain

So recently my brother's ex left her PlayStation 4 at my house. She's like let me know if there's any games you want to play so I'm like cool I'll see what you have. What she had was like no space, so I bought an external to go with it. And download all the games that she owned. Which took forever for just 18 games, like why does downloading games suck so much. Anyway, one of the games I tried out was called Heavy Rain, I never heard of it before so it was pretty much just me randomly playing everything since I haven't had a PlayStation since PS2. It was like a pick your ending, your choices matter type of game. So you move around four characters and their parts of the story. I will say the beginning  hour is a little drawn out, but the story draws you in. Other than that, you should know I don't mind graphics, what I care about is story. gameplay, and the controls. More or less the controls more than anything. In this game the controls are weird. F...

The Freddy Game

Image
Here we go back to 30 years for this one. It somehow still had all the pieces too. But old slapstick horror A Nightmare on Elm Street with the man himself Freddy Krueger as the star. Here we can see the layout of the board and the pieces. Each person gets a player. Each person has their own fear. Mom is afraid of rodents, and the mailman is afraid of lightning. Now everyone has a hand of cards, four white cards and four black cards. Among the black ones is a you are Freddy card. (make sure to keep it a secret you are Freddy until you have the upper hand) Now the point of the game is to either kill Freddy or Freddy kill each player. On your first turn, you roll the dice to progress, while on your second turn, you have the option of rolling OR telling a story with the cards in your hand. If you have a hallway card you can move to a different room using room cards. A story could be like, "I heard moan ing in the cellar , so I walked down the hallway with my crowbar . but...

Jurassic Park Danger Board Game

Image
This is the start of board game reviews. The main concept of this game is to turn on the three attractions and make it to the helicopter before the dinos eat you or before the spots are all taken up. One player will be the dinos, and of course, they want to gobble up all the players. Everyone else will be a random character and each has their own abilities to make it past the dinos. Each player has a deck for their character and keeping five cards in your hand at a time, those are how your character moves. If it is running, sneaking, or climbing to another area. The dinosaurs can also sneak so watch out. You must collect your character token, which each has a different way to collect them. Some are by task while others are by just visiting a certain area. Which you can work together with others, or work against them to make sure you can escape. Once the attractions as activated like, the visitors center, maintenance shed, and the control center, you have to make it to the ...

Heroes of the Monkey Tavern

Image
So I was going through games that were on sale in the Nintendo eShop. I found a dungeon crawler game called Heroes of the Monkey Tavern I was thinking okay it's cheap I have gold coins let's get it, but then I saw there was a demo. Sweet, I can try it first! So I downloaded it and the Switch takes forever to download the game unless it is sitting right next to my wireless router. So I didn't remember I even downloaded the game till a few days later. I booted it up and had a cute little story to begin with. It empathized 4 heroes in the story. Then you pick 4 hero classes and avatars. You also add a few points of your choice to their stats as well. I was excited to start it off. I'm suddenly in a dungeon and it took me a bit to figure out the controls. the left stick does nothing. the left buttons each move in a direction, while the right stick looks around the direction you are facing. The L and R switch the direction you are facing and the ZL ZR switch the character t...
