Smoking is bad for you, m'kay? Tobacco Shop Simulator: Prologue
Tobacco Shop Simulator: Prologue
(edited 3/31/2025)
Tobacco Shop Simulator is just what you think it is: a shop where you sell Tobacco products and accessories. The game came out on November 1st, 2024, and you can play this prologue for free. The great thing about it is that you don't have to hire employees when you can just invite a friend to play with you. This game can be played by up to 4 players. It was developed and published by Buiness Tycoon. Business Tycoon also makes Retail Company Simulator. Both games are normally $11.99 but are on sale until March 13th, 2025.
Shout out to the devs for suggesting the key through a program called Keymailer. I mean, it's free, but still, I wouldn't have known about it if it hadn't been on Keymailer.
Game play
Like most simulator shop games, you have to first set up your shop name and buy stock to fill up your store. This one runs on a buy-a-brand system. So you start off with it making you buy Warblo, and can later as you level your store or just get money is general can buy other brands. The store is pretty small, so you can't buy too many displays as the prologue you can not expand your store size. So, there were a lot of things we could not test out in this version. Like I had to do everything myself, no employees for me.
Once you buy the brand, you can then buy the products. There were two versions, so I bought both and just filled the whole small display. The store starts with a computer to buy things, a cash register, and two display units. There are trash cans in the back and areas where shipments will be dropped off. An empty storeroom is also in the back.
There are a total of 7 achievements you can earn for the prologue, and just by playing the game, you will pretty much max those out easily. I should go check out the other game to easy 100% another game. *Hatches evil plan*
The game is simple from this point: check out customers stock your products. Once in a while, you will have an online order to fulfill, for which you have to go down the block to turn into the post office. I also encountered a thief that I missed because I got stuck in a transaction and lost my mouse, and I pretty much broke things. The transactions are cash or credit: with cash, you have to give back change. I have no clue why there are 50-cent pieces and credit where you have to punch in the numbers. It won't let you add more; as a tip, I tried.
Thoughts
There were a lot of things I just couldn't access because it was a "demo" in a sense, so it is kind of hard to really say what I think of the full game. It is really similar to other simulation games, so it's easier to say it's right on par with others. The biggest advantage it has is the multiplayer aspect. Being able to have friends help with the task instead of having to hire help saves money and will help you get a better daily rating to increase your level faster. One thing that did stick out as annoying to me is that some things were unable to be done if all your hand slots were full. So you would have to go put down a box on a storage shelf or completely stock an item to have a hand free to interact with certain things. I also didn't get the hand slots, as there was no way I would be able to reasonably have that many boxes in my inventory. So it made it a little less realistic.
89% percent of the reviews on Steam are positive. The negative reviews pretty much consist of just people saying its boring or pointing out a few bugs in the game. I do have to say there aren't a lot of sounds when playing. When the positive reviews just generally say they like the game, or just random comments like give me awards. I did find one that I felt hard, and the NPCs are a little weird. During my gameplay, I did point out a few customers strutting around strangely and a few just looked like they were long-time smokers.
It just goes back to what I said: you play the simulation game that you are most interested in because they are really similar, just with different themes.
