Subnautica - Yay free game!

So with Epic Games opening their own store on the PC, they are giving away Subnatica for free. Everyone's favorite price tag.
Now I have been wanting to play this game for a while, it has been in game preview mode on Xbox One for a while. Just with other games and things going on I never got a chance. I did watch a few streamers on Mixer play the game and wanted to eventually play it. A few friends also recommended it as well.
So I downloaded the game manager and then installed the game. Fortnite is like an auto game you get in your library I thought this was pretty funny. So I load up the game...

Crash land on an alien planet. Something went wrong you just into an escape pod and ended up getting knocked out after ejecting from the ship. You wake up to your pod being on fire and need to quickly put it out. There are little amount of control hints but a lot of things you have to figure out yourself. So I took this time to check the controls. I play on Xbox a lot so I plugged in the Elite controller and to be honest I just didn't like how it worked on the controller so I went back to keyboard and mouse. (OH no I'm turning to a PC player... HELP)
Anyway, I learned the controls and jumped out of the pod. There are tons of weird alien fish swimming around having a good time. I'm not really sure what I am doing so I just start picking up everything that will let me. Then I remember that when I watched others play they had some sort of scanner. So I went back to the pod. I saw there was a storage box and a few things on the wall. One makes health kits every so often, and another is where you fabricate everything. So it tells you what you need material-wise to make the item and it well, makes it.
So I check everything out I look at the things I can make and what I need to make other things. Of course, my focus is tools seeing I want to be able to harvest. fix, and build things. So I make sure to collect things for a knife, scanner, and repair tool. All the while my water starts flashing. I have two bottles on the ship in a storage container. So I ended up drinking both of those. But like all survival games, I just let myself die and go back to base once my stuff is low. I make sure I die in the pod because anywhere else you lose some of the stuff in your inventory.
I can tell you I got eaten by many things in the water. And they make super scary sounds too, so that turned to me screaming and "running" swimming away to only get eaten still. I can say I heavily focused on giving myself more oxygen so that I could swim longer.
I still have not built a base, and still have not scanned everything in the water. Despite me playing it for like 20-plus hours already. Finding some stuff is actually really hard...

So far I am loving the game, and really while it is free take this time to grab it! The only thing that bothers me is when the item you just harvested starts to roll away XD
